I have to say I love this movie by Steven King. Other than the fact that he is a brillent writter this movie is a must see if you haven't already. It's is based on a group of paranormal researches that investigate Rose Red. At first when i saw this movie i thought that it was just a typical steven king with a great imagination, but it turns out that Rose Red didn't exist but it was based on the Winchester Mansion in San Jose, California.

I didn't know rose red was still standing. I heard on the grapevine it was demolished to make way for re-development.

i guess it depends on how long ago the website was done to whether it still stands or not, but at the time the website was written the Winchester Mansion was still standing.

Winchester Manson does still stand today, My pen friend Patty in the states lives about a 45 min drive from the mansion and has visited there quite a few times over the years and yes it is still there, it's a huge tourist attraction. The now family owner is making a wad off money from the whole Myth. It was at one stage years back assigned to be torn down and the land sold for some development but it never eventuated because the family realised what a money spinner it was going to be. But of course there are other mansions in the States with similiar myths and some have been torn down over the years, could be the confussion as to which one.

No one asked, but yeah would it be cool to go over there and spend a few nights on a hunt in the place. I believe they have very strict guided tours of so many people a sesson as your not actually aloud to go wondering off on your own in the place. They say it is such a labryinth of rooms that it is so easy to get lost in the place. Patty actually said some years ago an actual tourest did go missing in the house and was never found, which was why they started the controlled tours.

I really only know the things Patty has told me about the Mantion. But she truelly believes the house does shift and change shape. Myself I believe possibly that the place was built in the labyrinth of cryptic pussles in that place. That it creates some sort of opitical illussions which disorientates a person, causing them to become lost in the shier confussion of the entire lay out of rooms. But I honestly can't come up with a theory as too why people have actually never been found. But would it be a hoot trying to find out.

I can email Patty and ask her to write me everything she knows about the place if you like ?
