One show I have seen from time to time is Crossing Over with John Edwards. I am a little unsure about the show. I don't believe he is fake, but I don't believe a lot of what he does on the show, I think some of it is just for ratings. Has anyone ever gone to see him live, because I would really like to know what actully happens on the show when the cameras are not rolling.

I haven't seen him personally, but have on tv.
I agree with you, he may be in tune with the spirits but i find that a lot is fake also, just to amp up the show so to speak.
Anybody else have any opinions on this topic? cause i am also very interested to know whether he is legit.

Hi,
Crossing over is not a show that lasted all that long on T.V.
I do think that people are desperate to "contact" their loved ones
and that puts them in a suggestive or gullible state.
It's a little sad,but not really all that believable in my book.
John Edwards I'm sure is a sensitive and intelligent man,
but what he "picks up" on the psychic airwaves around a person
is hard to prove or disprove.Perhaps the people are stage hands
like a magician uses, and he has a brilliant memory.
As for books,I must say that my current one is fantastic.
Ghosts-True encounters with the world beyond
The author Hans Holzer lectures Parapsychology at New York Institute of Technology.
He is an authority on this subject, and busts some myths about the Paranormal
that Hollywood has fed us over the years.
For example, did you know that the word poltergeist comes from the German meaning "noisy ghost"
but recent theories suggest it is not a ghost at all-
it is a form of energy from the living that is powered by strong emotion?
As well he documents over 150 cases.
A well researched and chilling book.
I recommend it to all who are interested in this subject.

Good Point, i agree hollywood hype.
He is just to accurate, he seems to find the finest detail in the spirits. I haven't met a medium that perfect yet.

Have to agree killermoon. There is no such thing as a perpect medium. Even the best in the world can get it wrong sometimes. And well I in my opinion think that anyone who does show like that are mostly greedy. They have a gift that was given to them and I believe it is wrong to make money out of it by manipulating other people.

I think Edwards has a gift to some degree, what I think he does is, he takes what messages he does receive and colours them up, no medium can be that descripive. Messages most of the time come through scattered, fragmented and in a lot of cases very symbolic. it takes a hell of a lot of energy for a spirit to converse with anyone and when they do get messages across the connection thins and expands destorting and breaking up the messages quite a bit. Bit the same as a radio wave breaks up. You know we focus on these celebrity mediums because they are in the public eye so they are under far more scrutiny than a medium not in the public eye. It goes on, with far more mediums than people realise because some of them do the samething. I have met a few over the years and it ticks me off when I clue in.

yeah have to agree, i have met quite a few myself and if you know what to look for it can pick up what they are doing. Because of the way the messages come or the tools they use to get the messages, they can't get it perpect all the time and i get funny with those who do. I guess though being in the public eye you can really afford to make those kind of mistakes and i guess there would be nothing worse than doing a show where you say i think or i can't be sure.

I came onto this forum to be true to myself and keep an open mind so here goes.
To me there are differing ideas on the word medium-(here are three)
-Media/TV charlatans who deceive and profit from people in grief or curiosity, and revel in celebrity status, merchandise and public attention.
-Gypsy and carnival people who look upon it as a job,and while have something unusual in their bloodline,
regard it mostly as a job where they act a practiced or random performance.
-People who have an insight above normal who are spiritually and psychologically perceptive
There is no reason why a "medium" cannot be skilled in many life areas
and equally so understand the lives of the living just as well.
Mystical showed me that on New Years,I have also found Purple Rain cloud's comments to be true, deep and worthy of my thought and time.
After all the study of human nature is interlinked with how a human is expected to act after death.

there is no one definition for medium, it is just a title that is given to people whom are spiritualy intune with the spiritual plain.
Although making money from your gift eg: $75 for a tarot reading, to me is not right, people do have to make a living, but i think it should be via donation or set at a low price like $5 per reading. This is a gift, you don't earn it or work for it, but you are given it and that gift should not be abused as it is there to help others as well as yourself.
